Thread milling cutters not only offer high milling speeds, but their multi-flute design also increases the number of cutting edges, easily improving feed rates and thus significantly increasing machining efficiency. In machining long threads, inserts with longer cutting edges can be used to reduce the axial feed interval (effectively shortening the thread) to further improve efficiency. Traditional thread machining methods use taps, which are inefficient, difficult to guarantee thread accuracy, and prone to workpiece scrapping if the tap breaks. In modern thread machining, milling is increasingly replacing traditional methods.
